The support system I had while adoptiong Hannah Cate was so incredibly amazing. I think I have the best friends ever to begin with, but during the 9 months we worked on getting our girl home, they stepped up above and beyond.
After we returned from court last May, my favorite group of girls threw me a sweet adoption shower. I mean, let's be honest...after 2 boys, I was ready for some pink and ruffles and they knew that! :)
It was a beautiful, albeit HOT, Southern summer afternoon in June. My friend Sarah has a beautiful barn on her property and she hosted the event.
As you entered the barn, they had a blessings tree. Beside it was a table with doilies where everyone wrote a blessing for Hannah Cate.
Having all the women that mean the most to me write a little something for my girl is priceless. I store them in her room in a little birdcage I found at a local antique store. I can't wait for the day when she can read them!
The barn is beautiful, right?! They coordinated the colors to go with her room...peachy pink and turqouise.
They know me all too well and did "Amy" food. Different types of hummus and (not pictured) a variety of gelatos! Some friends say I am a California, boho hippie girl trapped in a Southern belle Tennessee body. :) And can we talk about the sign as the backdrop?! I love having crafty friends. "Chosen" has been my word throughout the adoption process. If I ever get the guts to do it, I want a tatoo of chosen written on my foot. One day, right Ashley? This sign is a true treasure to me. It symbolizes so much in both my life and my daughters. How God chose me to go to Africa to meet my daughter before I knew she was suppose to be my daughter, how God chose Hannah Cate and placed her to be in our family and us in hers, how God chose our family to do adoption in the first place. Oh how God has chosen me (and you!) for mighty things for His purpose! And He adopts us into His family for all eternity when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.
I also have this hanging in Hannah Cate's room above her dresser. Everytime I rock her I read it and just thank God for choosing me.
I gave each of the girls a potted plant as a hostess gift.
My sister-in-law and mother-in-law. I'm so sad I didn't get a picture with my mom who was there as well.
Hannah Cate got so many pretty things. I think she received the entire Target summer line. ;)
Such a special day to me!!!
Thank you precious friends!
